Mr. Prashanth C.P, a homeowner in Nammazhikadu, Thrissur, approached DFM Greenland India after noticing signs of termite activity around his residence. Having come across our termite control projects on social media, he wanted a professional inspection before the problem had a chance to spread further.
The property was a traditional Kerala home constructed using laterite bricks (chenkallu), a material widely used across the state for its strength and natural cooling properties.
Why Was This Case Different?
Homes built with laterite bricks often require special attention. Termites can travel through hidden pathways within the wall structure. Mostly, the visible signs of infestation represent only a small part of the actual problem.
For this property, the concern was not just the visible termite activity. The bigger challenge was understanding how far the termites had moved within the foundation and wall systems. The primary focus was on stopping their movement before further damage occurred.
Our Approach on Site
Our team conducted a detailed inspection to identify termite activity, trace potential entry points, and assess the extent of movement within the structure.
Based on the findings, a customized treatment plan was prepared specifically for the laterite brick construction.
The treatment included:
- Precision drilling above the tile skirting at carefully measured intervals
- Specialized drilling techniques suitable for laterite walls
- Injection of Bayer’s eco-friendly anti-termite formulation into targeted areas
- Use of advanced imported equipment to ensure proper penetration of the treatment solution
- Treatment of both wall cavities and foundation zones
- External trenching around the building perimeter
- Motorized application of anti-termite chemicals to create a protective barrier around the property
Once the treatment was completed, all drill points were neatly sealed with white cement to maintain the appearance of the interior walls.
Results
Active termite infestation was effectively addressed. We also created a continuous protective barrier around the structure. The treatment helped eliminate existing termite colonies while reducing the risk of future infestations.
Most importantly, the homeowner gained confidence that the hidden termite pathways commonly associated with laterite construction had been properly treated and protected.
