When a New Building Faces an Old Enemy
A newly constructed Senior Citizen Care Home in Vakathanam Mukkada was almost ready to welcome its residents. Everything looked perfect on the surface. But soon after construction, an unexpected issue surfaced—early signs of termite activity within the structure.
For a facility meant to house elderly residents, this was more than a minor concern. Termites can silently damage foundations, walls, and interiors, putting both safety and long-term durability at risk. Recognizing the seriousness of the issue, Mrs. Mini Thomas reached out to DFM Greenland India for a reliable, permanent solution.
Why This Project Needed Special Attention
This wasn’t a standard residential space. It was an institutional building designed for senior citizens.
That meant:
- Zero tolerance for recurring pest issues
- A treatment safe for occupants
- Long-term protection, not temporary relief
- A solution backed by warranty and professional accountability
The challenge was clear—eliminate termites and ensure they never return.
DFM’s Approach: Precision, Not Guesswork
DFM Greenland India began with a thorough on-site inspection. The team mapped out termite activity, identified vulnerable zones, and assessed how deeply the infestation had reached.
Instead of a surface-level approach, a structured, scientific approach was followed.
Inside the Building
Small, precisely placed openings were created just above the tile skirting. Using imported, pressure- and temperature-controlled equipment, an eco-friendly German Bayer termiticide was injected deep into the structure. This ensured the chemical reached the foundation level, where termite colonies usually thrive.
Once the treatment was completed, every opening was carefully sealed with white cement, restoring the interior finish without visible damage.
Outside the Structure
To prevent future entry, the foundation perimeter was reinforced. A trench was formed around the building, and chemical treatment was applied using motorized equipment. This created a continuous protective barrier—stopping termites before they could even approach the structure.
The Impact
The results were immediate and reassuring.
- Active termite presence was completely eliminated
- The building foundation gained a strong chemical shield
- Interiors were protected without aesthetic compromise
- A maximum warranty supported by Bayer was issued
- Free re-treatment assured during the warranty period
Most importantly, the care home became a safe, hygienic, and durable space—ready for long-term institutional use.
Final Outcome
Today, the Senior Citizen Care Home at Vakathanam Mukkada stands fully protected against termites. What could have turned into a costly structural issue was resolved early through expert intervention, precise execution, and a future-focused treatment plan.
This project reflects DFM Greenland India’s commitment to protecting buildings that matter—quietly, thoroughly, and for the long run.
