Project Location: Manarcad, Kottayam, Kerala
Client: Government Health Centre, Manarcad
Point of Contact: Medical Officer
Service Partner: DFM Greenland India
The Challenging Situation
Manarcad Health Centre serves the local community every day. During routine inspections, termite activity was observed on the premises—an issue that could quietly compromise the building’s structural integrity and hygiene if left unattended.
The Medical Officer was already familiar with DFM Greenland India’s work across several government health centres, including facilities in Kadaplamattom, Parampuzha, Athirampuzha, Kumarakom, Parathode, and Vazhoor. Based on this proven track record, DFM was approached to handle the situation with care and precision.
Why This Case Required a Thoughtful Approach?
Treating termites in a public healthcare facility comes with clear expectations:
- Active infestation needed immediate attention
- Structural protection had to be ensured without interrupting daily medical services
- Treatment had to be safe, eco-friendly, and suitable for a health centre environment
- Long-term protection with warranty support was essential
There was no room for temporary fixes.
DFM’s Treatment Strategy
DFM Greenland India began with a detailed site inspection to understand the extent of termite activity and identify high-risk zones within the building.
Once the assessment was complete, a phased and controlled treatment plan was implemented.
Internal Treatment Process
Small, accurately placed drill points were created above the tile skirting at the recommended depth and spacing. Through these points, an eco-friendly German Bayer termiticide was injected using imported machines that regulate temperature and pressure. This ensured the chemical reached deep into the foundation, targeting termite colonies at their source.
After treatment, all drill points were sealed carefully with white cement, restoring the area’s hygiene and visual finish—an important requirement in a healthcare setting.
External Foundation Protection
To prevent future termite entry, a trench was created around the building’s foundation. Using motorized equipment, chemical treatment was applied to form a continuous protective barrier surrounding the entire structure. This external shield acts as a long-term defense against termite invasion.
Results Delivered
The treatment brought measurable and lasting outcomes:
- Complete elimination of termite activity within the health centre
- A strong chemical barrier securing the building foundation
- Maximum warranty coverage backed by Bayer
- Free re-treatment support during the warranty period
- No disruption to the health centre’s daily operations
Most importantly, the facility remained safe, functional, and hygienic throughout the process.
Project Outcome
Today, Manarcad Health Centre stands fully protected against termites. Through a combination of expertise, advanced equipment, and a methodical treatment process, DFM Greenland India ensured long-term structural safety and peace of mind for a vital public healthcare institution.
